We would like to thank all who took part on Sunday in our Cyclo Sportive on the 18 September 2011 and what a fantastic day it was! Over £5,000 was raised for our charity “Action For Blind People”, which is part of the RNIB, and other charities being personally sponsored by some of the riders. 163 people entered, including some Rotarians, and a had the choice of cycling 50 or 80 miles! The age of riders ranged from 14 to 76. Even an RNIB Volunteer Speaker who is registered blind took part with Simon Kidd on a tandem and finished in a very creditable time of 3 hours 49 minutes, an excellent result. Now that’s what I call a challenge! When everyone arrived back at the D Day Memorial Hall in Southwick, tea, coffee, rolls and hot soup waited the cyclists – all provided free of charge by the ladies of the Waterlooville Rotary Club Inner Wheel and the Rotary Club member’s partners and were much appreciated by all! Photographs taken at the event can be found under the News section of the website. The event will take place again next year on the 16 September 2012, so if you fancy joining us and riding the course, details will be on the website a little nearer the time. Hopefully see you then! A big thankyou to everyone who took part and made this possible, a great team effort, thank you.
